Let’s Modernize the Commuter Rail!

Our Commuter Rail is stuck in the past—it can get us to a 9-to-5 job in Boston but not much else. Help us transform the system into Regional Rail: a modern, 21st-century system that we can take any time of day to places like TD Garden, Salem, Worcester, or the Cape, as conveniently as driving but faster and less expensive. Here’s what will change - contact your representatives today to help make it a reality

Fast, Reliable Electric Trains

Compared to our current diesel trains, modern electric trains go faster, spend less time starting and stopping, and work 10 times longer without breaking down. Upgrading the system means we get where we’re going faster and without delays.

Frequent, Convenient Schedules

Wouldn’t it be great to just show up at a station and go? Regional Rail will use a consistent, frequent schedule all day and evening – no waiting hours for the next train or memorizing complicated schedules.

Clean Air + Less Carbon

The existing Commuter Rail engines spew diesel fumes into communities already hard-hit by pollution from cars. We’ll use electric trains that keep both nearby communities and the whole planet healthier through reduced emissions.

Equitable Fares for All

The Commuter Rail is too expensive, and it costs even more for transfers to the subway or a bus—an unfair burden that pushes people to drive or take slower, lower-cost options. Fares make sense, but they need to be reasonable.

Modern, Accessible Stations

Boarding the train on a narrow staircase is hard, especially with a mobility impairment or luggage. Spending more time stopped makes trips longer, too. We’ll add subway-like platforms at all regional rail stations for faster and easier boarding.
